Below are the guidelines that you should be familiar with before you start contributing articles to HostHow. These are mostly simple and obvious. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or ask in the forums.

Max image width of 640px

Articles with lots of detailed screenshots are awesome. Because of the current template, images should be scaled down to a width of 640.

Headings should use <h4> and be formatted "Step 1 - Header Description"

This is the preferred heading format for all steps/headings in your article. Simply use the <h4></h4> tags in code view for your headings.

Code should be formatted like this: <pre lang="php">

If you are going to be submitting code samples with your article, place it in <pre lang="$lang"></pre> and the syntax will be highlighted.

The bold languages are simply the most popular. Try not to use the <pre> tags in your code sample as it will break the utility.

Use "more" command after intro snippet

Make sure you use the <!--more--> command (or click the icon in the WYSIWYG editor) after a short introduction.  This introduction will appear on the homepage.

Short articles must be very useful and should be submitted to "mini" cat

Submitting short (1 paragraph) tutorials is perfectly fine as long as they are extremely useful.

Do not rip off content from other websites, it will not be tolerated

This is pretty self explanatory. Don't be a jerk and rip other people off. You will be caught and banned.

Proper use of grammar and formatting required

This is also self explanatory. Don't write a whole tutorial with CAPS or no line breaks.

No references to porn, hate, racism, warez, guns, extreme animal destruction, etc etc.

This includes any mention of 2 girls 1 cup. Seriously...if you even mention that site you will be banned from the internet.
